The Film Festival of London is the most important film event UK and celebrated its 50th anniversary edition in 2006.
Since its origins it has been a “festival of festivals”, and projects a selection of the best titles of other competitions. Your goal is to bring these movies to the public. In addition, the awards granted cover various categories, from documentaries to shorts.
Apart from the movies , there are all kinds of events scheduled during the festival: from a class with John Cameron Mitchel, to a talk with the music group I have it.
While Venice (closely followed by Deauville ) is preparing to deliver its verdict, and that Toronto has just opened its doors, the London International Film Festival unveils its 2011 vintage. Among the 204 feature films on offer, is the new film by Fernando Meirelles , 360 , worn by Rachel Weisz , Anthony Hopkins and Jude Law , who will launch the festivities next month.
The Best of the Big Festivals!
This year again, London has made its market in all major festivals, Sundance ( Like Crazy , Martha Marcy May Marlene …), in Cannes ( Habemus Papam , This Must Be the Place , The Artist …), in passing through Berlin ( Coriolanus , The Future …), Venice ( The Marches of Power , A Dangerous Method , The Descendants …) and Toronto ( Trishna , 50/50 , Anonymous…)!
Besides trucks in “Gala”, the British side, we can see the new adaptation of Wuthering Heights by Andrea Arnold (who had already struck hard with Fish Tank ), Shame of Steve McQueen who finds Michael Fassbender after the shock Hunger , or the mysterious the Awakening of Nick Murphy in which Rebecca Hall ( the Town , Vicky Cristina Barcelona ) is faced with supernatural phenomena in England in the interwar period. On the American side, Oren Movermanwill present his second film, Rampart , after the still unprecedented in France and yet very successful The Messenger , in which he reformed the duo Woody Harrelson – Ben Foster , while the comedies Bernie , led by Jack Black , and 50/50 of Jonathan levine (to whom we owe the friendly Wackness ) in which Joseph Gordon-Levitt sees his life swing the day he learns that he is suffering from cancer (not necessarily funny on paper!) should delight lovers of comedies US.
The Rest of the Selection

Finally, Rachel Weisz close dance, after opening with The Deep Blue Sea by Terence Davies in which it has a passionate and destructive affair with a pilot of the Royal Air Force played by Tom Hiddleston ( Thor , Midnight in Paris ).
