HEAVEN'S GATE - a rare 35mm presentation
Notorious as the film that sunk an entire studio and made Hollywood executives' blood run cold at the thought of 'auteur films' for decades after, Michael Cimino's (The Deer Hunter) epic western ran over three hours long and went four times over its budget. It flopped at the box office, by which time it had gone through several cuts, none of which helped. Since then, as with many other cinematic disasters, it has been re-evaluated.
The PCC will be screening the 219 minute version of HEAVEN'S GATE on a 35mm print, so make sure your diary is totally empty that night!
