Curzon Soho, 3 March 6.30pm
Acclaimed writer-director Charlie Kaufman (Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) and co-director Duke Johnson will be presenting and discussing their new Kickstarter-backed puppet comedy Anomalisa at this very special preview at Curzon. The film arrives on UK shores on the back of a wave of acclaim after its festival and stateside runs. It is the first R-rated animated film to be nominated for an Oscar for Best Animated Feature, a Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film, and five Annies. It also became the first animated film to win the Grand Jury Prize at the 72nd Venice International Film Festival.
A tender, touching and achingly funny black comedy from the director who is arguably the master of this kind of thing, Anomalisa is filmed entirely in stop motion animation. Anomalisa is the story of Michael Stone, a successful motivational speaker whose life is thrown into disarray by a chance meeting during a business trip with the unassuming Lisa, a small-town sales rep. Featuring vocal performances from David Thewlis, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Tom Noonan.
